Next, I went to Launchpad in MacOS and opened Disk Utility. Then I started the Win7Pro install, and at the first reboot I suspended the VM and closed out of VMware Fusion. Then I chose 300GB for the HDD size, checked Pre-Allocate space, and unchecked Split into Multiple Files.

I began by unchecking Easy Install, and clicked customize hardware settings. Then after doing that, I started up VMware Fusion 8.5.0 ( d=16972) and created a new VM with the Windows 7 Pro ISO I downloaded.

I downloaded my ISO file from the official Windows USB/DVD Downloader Tool ( and-office-iso-download-tool)

Basically, to begin, it required downloading a trial of VMware Fusion 8.5.0 (Must be this version), Winclone 6.0.3 (must be v 6.0.3 or below to work), Paragon VMDK Virtual Machine Mounter, and it helps to also have Paragon NTFS for Mac v15 ( ), and lastly a good Windows 7 ISO file. I was almost ready to give up and turn in the towel until on a random forum I found a strange method that someone else had used who was in almost an exactly similar situation.

I tried for months to find a method to install Windows onto my MacBook Pro as at the time I didn't have any other portable computer to use and desperately needed to use Windows based software for a project I was working on. Not sure if the SATA cable is no good or if I just keep getting duds but being as my MacBook Pro came out at a time before Macs could boot Windows up via EFI or UEFI, and has to emulate Legacy (BIOS) booting, I couldn't use a USB install, and I even tried buying an external CD Drive and that too would not work due to it running through the USB ports. I have an older Mid-2010 MacBook Pro 6,2 15" with a 750GB HDD, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 330M GPU, and an Intel i7 M 620 "Arrandale" CPU, and currently is running MacOS Sierra 10.12 and Windows 7 Professional.Ī few years back, the SuperDrive to my MacBook Pro gave out on me, and therefore, I tried buying another SuperDrive and still had no luck. Here's the whole low down of how this occurred. Currently on my MacOS side of things, it says the Windows Partition is 300GB total, however, when logged into the Windows OS and checking via Disk Management, it says I have only 279.40GB which means 20.6GB of HDD memory is just stuck in virtual limbo. Okay, so I'm having an issue with my Windows 7 Professional Bootcamp partition.
